Your “GLITCH” is a blessing, not a CURSE!

Hello beautiful people!  I want to write about something that has been heavy on my heart for a few years now.  Initially, it evoked an emotion where I was only thinking of self, but over the years I realized it applies to everyone.  Especially my BEAUTIFUL BLACK people!!

The movie that started this emotional roller coaster was…..wait for it….WRECK IT RALPH! The first one.  Fix your face!  That movie is pretty damn deep!  LOL!  There were a few things that struck a nerve and pulled an emotion out of me. So, as always, let’s recap…and I’ll try to be short…

Ralph was this big strong guy used in the game ‘Wreck it Ralph’ to wreck or break everything.  He could not fix anything.  Fix it Felix was also a part of this game and he did what his name said…he fixed everything Ralph wrecked.  Ralph wants to change who he is.  He doesn’t want to be the so called “bad guy” anymore.  He wants to win a medal like Felix.  Ralph tells the crew he wants to change and win a medal.  They quickly shoot him down telling him only good guys win medals and he is not a good guy.  Ralph wants to prove everyone wrong so he leaves his game to go find another game he can win a medal in.

On his journey he ends up in a game called Sugar Rush.  A racing game.  In this game Ralph meets King Candy (controls everything) and Vanellope (the glitch).  Ralph bonds with Vanellope because she is an outcast like him.  They can relate to each other.  See, Vanellope was not “allowed” to race because she a glitch.  If the players choose to race with her and she glitches then the whole game is over…forever!  But Vanellope is determined to race.  Ralph helps her build a car and teaches her how to drive.  Once King Candy gets wind of this he immediately goes to Ralph and tells him he has to stop Vanellope from racing. He explained to Ralph she cannot race because she is a glitch and could put an end to the entire game.  He also offers Ralph a medal if he stops her from racing. (see what’s happening here) Ralph tries to talk to Vanellope.  He asks why she won’t just leave.  Vanellope explained to him that glitches can’t leave their game.  Talking didn’t help so Ralph’s punk ass destroys Vanellope’s car.  All for a fucking medal (or validation whatever you want to call it).  See Ralph thought this validation, sorry, I mean medal would make him feel better. He thought it would give him all he had been missing.  But it didn’t do any of that.  Not to mention he soon realized Kind Candy was a damn liar and a manipulator!

See King Candy was from a game called Turbo. For a moment it was the #1 game in the arcade until Road Blasters came and stole his thunder.  So just like every other insecure, power hungry coward, he left his game to go destroy the game that intimidated him (sounds familiar?).  This caused both games to get the “Out of Order” sign.  So Turbo reprogrammed himself into King Candy and went to rule Sugar Rush.  He locked up all the players memories so no one would know what REALLY happened (I know that sounds familiar!) or who he REALLY was and made the real ruler, the princess, Vanellope, a glitch.

Ralph fixes Vanellope’s car and now it’s race day!  Remember Vanellope cannot win because if she crosses the finish line, the game resets, everyone gets their memory back and the real Vanellope will be revealed.  Vanellope is kicking ass in this race.  It comes down to just her and King Candy.  But in the midst of being an asshole, he reveals his true colors!  Like all assholes tend to do! HA!  Vanellope sees that he is really Turbo.  He is doing everything he can to take her out and then it happened.  Vanellope learned to control her glitch!  So many people made her think being a glitch was bad but she finally realized that it one was the one thing that made her better.  Vanellope used that glitch for her benefit.  When she glitched she could move faster and farther, almost like a magic trick.  So she glitched her ass right on across that finish line!  Once she crosses the finish line she is reminded who she is…Princess of Sugar Rush!  Everyone else was reminded too and now they want to kiss her ass!  Nah, nah, playa!  Take yo’ ass on!  Just kidding…she wasn’t mean she was a very classy lady!  LOL!  But funny thing…she didn’t want to look like or be the princess.  She just wanted to live her life, enjoy her life, and have fun “glitching”. She knew she was the princess and that was cool, but she didn’t let it change her. He tried to ruin her and hurt her but he only made her better!

Oh, and Ralph finally realizes he doesn’t need a medal to be a good guy.

Now tell me this don’t sound like some shit that’s going on in real life!  You can’t, because this shit is real!  I’ll start with Ralph.  Ralph wants to change.  He does not want to be known for wrecking things anymore.  He wants to be a good guy and because of what he has seen, he has to get a medal to be a good guy.  All bullshit!  To me, and I’m just speaking for me, that medal represented validation.  Everybody needs to be validated.  Newsflash Boo!! You are not a parking ticket!  Fuck validation!  But in all honesty that is the world we live in.  Everybody is looking for some type of validation and acceptance.  I’ll use myself as an example.  It took me so long to write publicly because I kept wondering will people like what I write, will they accept what I write.  I didn’t want to put anything out there because first of all y’all can be some low down ass folks, and also because I wasn’t sure I would be accepted.  Then I had to realized whether they like it or not….hell I DO!  I enjoy it, it’s therapeutic, and I love what I write!  The end!  We don’t have to wait for someone to tell us it’s ok or to give us a medal.  Like I told y’all before fuck fear just do that shit.

Ralph also had to deal with the people closest to him trying to talk him out of being better.  They didn’t understand why he needed to change.  What he was doing worked for them so why change it. Ooooooooooh chile!  I can’t stand people like this!  People who fear you becoming better will dim their light so they try to keep you where you are.  If you becoming better dims their light, that’s their problem not yours!  Hell, they need to make a change to that bulb and they can shine brighter too. With they 20 watt ass! But you have to careful when it comes to these type of people.  They are normally people who are close to you. You know…the ones you call family or friends. Yea, them.  You being the way you are benefits them.  You trying to better yourself may cause them to have to do more work.  That could be mental, physical, emotional or spiritual work, but something in them would have to change and they are not ready for that. Then some people are just so unhappy with themselves they criticize and shoot down every thought to better you have.  Their negativity is thick! Remember, misery loves company! BEWARE OF HUMAN LEECHES! THEY WILL SUCK YOU DRY!  AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY!  LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!

Real quick I want to point out some things about King Candy.  He pretended to be someone he wasn’t, left his game to go take over another game because he was intimidated by their growth.  Then he ends up in a whole other game as the ruler.  In this game he erased their memory or their history so they would not know who they really were and so they would not remember anything from the past except what he wanted them to remember. He did what ever he had to do to keep them stuck and under his control because if they found out who they really were, especially Vanellope, what would happen to little old King Candy????  Again…any of that sound familiar???  You can play dumb if you want. HA! I digress.

Now, moving on to my homegirl, Vanellope!  Vanellope is a whole mood!  Even as a cartoon character her energy is EPIC!  No matter how many people or how many times she was told she was nothing but a glitch, or that she was not a racer, or she would never race, she never QUIT!  She didn’t believe any of that bullshit!  It bothered her at times but she kept fighting through.  She knew there was more to her than just being a glitch.  She knew and so did King Candy.  Which is why he tried so hard to keep her memory under wraps.  Sometimes other people can see and notice your greatness and instead of encouraging you they will try to break you.  They will do what they can to control what you think of yourself.  That is why we have to have that Vanellope spirit!  She knew who she was, she could feel it at her core.  And because of that no one could tell her a damn thing about what she could do or could not do.  Not only that, the one thing King Candy did to try to ruin her was the one thing that restored her.

So, on some serious shit.  This message is for every single person who reads it.  I hope it helps you in some way.  But this is strongly geared towards my black people.  Y’all we have to do better as a people! At learning and studying our history.  Or are you cool with all the King Candy type folks telling you what your history is?? We need to learn our real history, not just slavery.  It didn’t start there!  We have to do better with realizing our greatness!  We are better than jails and cemeteries!  Everybody knows our truth and how great we can be…except for us! All the horrible shit they tell you about yourself, whether it’s via the new, TV, or music, that’s mind control. People can be really creative with convincing you that you are a “glitch” and that the “glitch” is why you don’t fit in. But they know if you knew how to control that “glitch”…IT’S ON! Why you think we have so many road blocks set in place!  We have to do better at supporting each other, standing up for each other, looking out for each other, LOVING each other!  This world is set up for you to work 1000x harder than everyone else to succeed.  This world is set up for you to have a target on your back.  This world is full of lies!  And we just take it and accept it. Why? Is it because that’s what they teach in school or in church.  When do we start researching things for ourselves?  At what point do you realize you actually have a brain that you control?  It’s ok for you to think for yourself.  You may be amazed at how wonderful your mind is!

Let me end this by saying, DO THE WORK! Do the work to know who you are. Do the work to know where you come from. Do the work to be who you know you can be! Do the work to be better and inspire others! DON’T EVER LET A COWARD ASS, INSECURE ASS, DISRESPECTFUL ASS KING CANDY TYPE OF HUMAN TELL YOU SHIT ABOUT WHO YOU ARE! You know who you are…don’t be afraid to embrace it! In a world full of King Candy’s…be Vanellope! Use your “glitch” to cross that finish line! 🙂

I love ya’ll! Go be GREAT on PURPOSE!

  1. Quote of the year: “…with their 20 watt ass!!”💡 Dim energy, dismal shine and will try and convince others they are “glitched”! Wonderful entry, you are right, realizing our power and greatness is a threat to others (that is greatly feared). When WE can realize the true advantage of flexed power and greatness…when then can level up!
